Master in Computer Application(MCA):

Objective of MCA programme


The objective of our MCA programme is in alignment with the institute’s vision i.e., is to develop into a World Class Center for Technical Education. Our MCA programme thrives to educate and prepare the students from a wide variety of backgrounds with essential technical skills needed to effectively solve problem and lead organizations. Upon the completion of the MCA programme the students will develop an understanding of the diverse and rapidly changing global technical environment and will possess the necessary skills to identify professional issues in a variety of contexts. Hands-on learning experiences combined with practical classroom instruction provide students with the essential technical skills to apply problem-solving techniques, using both quantitative and qualitative analysis to technical issues.

(i) Approved by AICTE, New Delhi

(ii) Affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Odisha. The only Technical University of the state.


Admission Procedures: for both (MCA-Reguler and MCA-LE).


Entrance Examination:


Candidate who have passed Graduation in BCA, B. Sc.(IT/ Computer Science/IST/ITM) with Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 or graduation level in approved institutes of other states are allowed to take admission in private colleges as per there OJEE Rank.


Selection Process: OJEE Counselling.


Master in Computer Application Lateral Entry(MCA-LE)-2 Years Full Time.


Eligibility: Passed or appearing bachelor's Degree examination of minimum three years duration in BCA, B. Sc.(IT/ Computer Science/IST/ITM) from any University of Odisha or from a recognized University as defined by UGC and must have passed in Mathematics as a course at 10+2 level or at graduate level. Business Mathematics at +2 is not permitted.

The candidate should have obtained at least 50%(45% in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST catagory) at the qualifying Examination.


Master in Computer Application(MCA)-3 Years Full Time.


Eligibility: Any graduate with pure Mathematics in 10+2 level or in degree and qualified in OJEE / NIMCET. The candidate should have obtained at least 50%(45% in case of candidate belonging to SC/ST catagory) at the qualifying examination.


MCA Programme is of three years duration. Each year shall be divided into two semesters. First,Third and Fifth semester shall ordinarily begin in July and end in November. Second,Fourth and Sixth Semester shall begin in December and end in April.


Grading System


A Seven Point grading system of base of 10 shall be followed in the University. Categorization of the grades and their correlation shall be as under.

N.B. Grade C shall be considered as average, Grade D shall be Pass Grade for theory and Grade C shall be pass grade for other items.


Evaluation of Theory Papers


The performance of a candidate in a theory subject shall be evaluated based on following Components

A project will be evaluated based on following components

Evaluation will be done by a Committee of teachers where the project supervisor will be a member. For Major projects an external expert shall be involved.


Credit Requirement for the Degree


Credit Requirements for the Degree shall be Minimum of 160 and maximum 168. The following Subject items shall constitute the total credit requirements.
